A digital space that only exists at night
From r/SomebodyMakeThis · originally by u/demierin · May 1, 2026
There’s an entire world of people who are awake at night: parents, shift workers, insomniacs, people going through something.
Right now they’re scattered across Reddit, TikTok, random forums.
Idea: a platform that only opens at night.
– opens around 10pm (local time, wherever you are)
– live chat rooms + quiet spaces
– low-stimulation, calm design
– optional anonymity
And then at sunrise, everything disappears.
Conversations aren’t saved.
Nothing to scroll back on.
Just a shared moment with whoever else was awake.
Less social media, more “you’re not the only one here”.
Feels like something that should already exist.
Like a temporary internet that only exists for people who can’t sleep.

I think this idea is intriguing. How do you ensure "local-time"? This can always be spoofed. Are people "in their local time" always locked in the same environment? Or does it start at 10p eastern until 6am Pacific before the reset?
Will it work with local time? That's the main thing. So as I understand, I can only chat those with same timezone as me, right? Since we'll be in the same night
